Deborah Candeub

Seeing, for me, is an active endeavor, and looking through a viewfinder serves to heighten the experience. I am moved by color, geometry, juxtaposition, harmony, humor, and the melancholy, ephemeral beauty of everyday life. I believe there’s a picture in almost everything if you find a fresh perspective.

The challenge of framing my wonder at our 3-d world inside a 2-d rectangle never grows old, and the magic that plays out when light and film combine to manifest the momentary as a physical artifact is fresh alchemy every single time.

Deborah Candeub lives outside Washington DC where she makes pictures, raises children and reads books, not necessarily in that order.

Huda Al

Expat wife, I am an amateur photographer and the mother of 2 beautiful girls who likes to take street portrait from around the world, mostly unstaged. My first camera was a Canon AE-1 that I got when I was a teenager and I’m still using it. I love to take portraits with my Rolleiflex and my favorite films are expired Kodak Portra.

I share a blog dedicated to film photography with three other friends www.shootfilm.com and Twitter https://twitter.com/ShootFilmblog

Shona Allen

At a very young age, I would stand at my father's elbow under the red light, waiting for the images to emerge from the trays. I thought he was a magician. He gave me my first camera, a Yashica A.

Now, I change lenses and load film for some 30 cameras, carry camera bags and tripods, load negative scanners, and whatever else is needed, for Colton Allen, my son and mentor. Including his young daughter, we are now four generations of film photographers.

I like to photograph the small stuff, the weed in the garden, the unnoticed, the crack in the sidewalk, the crumpled leaf, an odd shadow or reflections in a glass.

To see a World in a Grain of Sand
And a Heaven in a Wild Flower
Hold Infinity in the palm of your hand And Eternity in an hour
— W. Blake

Still in love with TLRs, my kit includes a Yashica A and a Yashica 44, along with a Pentax SF1 and a Pentax 645n.

Jennifer Zehner

Initially exposed to film photography in high school, I took what would become a 19 year hiatus. On the brink of 40, I remembered how much I loved and missed the medium. Three years, two enlargers, and six cameras later, I find myself drawn to the shadows, textures, and tones of abandoned places and city streets. I am in love with medium format, old equipment, and the pungent smell of fixer.

Erik Gould

My name is Erik Gould and I'm a photographer based in Rhode Island, USA. I have a day job as a museum photographer for the Rhode Island School of Design. At work I’m digital but for myself I shoot film and I make prints in the darkroom. I enjoy the challenge of "getting it right" on film and working within the parameters that film and paper set on the process. I also just love the time in the darkroom, developing film, making prints and looking over contact sheets. I’m sure I always will. I want my work to look photographic and for me that means analog, even if the final result ends up as a digital presentation.

The pictures included here are selected from ongoing recent work. All were shot on 120 Kodak TMY-2. See more film photography from Erik Gould on his website and find him on Twitter @ClickErik

Eddy Lambert

I'm Eddy from Oxford in the UK. I started taking photos when I was 10 after my granddad gave me his old camera. I was a photography obsessive during my twenties. After a few years off taking mainly digital family snaps I recently got back into film photography, largely inspired by the amazing online community of film shooters, including FSC. I don't have any one particular style or subject and am still finding my feet back behind the lens so prefer to snap what suits my mood. I shoot using a range of 35mm, medium format and instant cameras I've been collecting since childhood. I am as likely to pick up a compact from the 80s as a Leica. I mainly share my pictures on Instagram at @expectgrain and love talking about photos and photography and discovering the work of others. The gallery below is a representative cross-section of recent shots. Thanks for looking.

Barbara Justice

My Name is Barbara Justice. I am from the southwest-New Mexico and Texas. Currently, I live in the great city of Madison, Wisconsin. I have been photographing with film cameras for 20 years. I love traditional photography very much. My current work involves doing a lot of experimentation with old vintage cameras and outdated film. My current projects include using a Brownie Hawkeye, a Yashica MAT 124G, and the Spartus Press Flash Camera. In 2015 I spent seven months in Florence, Italy photographing with nothing but film cameras. This upcoming winter will be my first winter in the Wisconsin, and I have already planned on photographing the frozen lakes with my Mamiya RB67 ProS. I am very excited to be a part of Film Shooters Collective.
