Mark Hillyer

I tend to compose in a minimalist fashion & my personal work is centred in finding disquiet and unease in the still. I’m trying to slow my work down, to reconnect with that something that just doesn’t seem to be there within the digital medium, which is how I have found my way back to film photography.

Living in the heart of Yorkshire in the UK, my work is predominantly landscape but I’m currently exploring portraiture and in particular, the collaboration between photographer and subject.

I have a lot of nostalgia for the analogue processes of shooting, processing and printing the final image and work in 35mm, Medium & Large formats.

The more you put in, the more you get out. At least that’s what my mother used to say...

Jillian Xenia

My film photographic work is deeply personal in nature. I photograph both men and women, and recurring themes of loss, anguish, and despair are ever present. I primarily shoot nude or semi nude, not for any sexual reasons but because the human form communicates truth and naturalness. I love expressing and evoking powerful feeling with my work, feelings that are mostly hidden in day to day life.

I utilize 35mm, medium format, and polaroid to create these stories. I especially love polaroid, as it gives a dreamy and surreal atmosphere.

James Niven

Born in Christchurch, NEW ZEALAND & having lived in Melbourne, AUSTRALIA, Suva, FIJI & Los Angeles, USA, I now call Sydney home.

My initiation into Photography started on a 1986-87 road trip around Australia working on farms & fruit picking to sustain our way & was fully realised the following year on a trip that took me through India, Nepal & Bhutan. This trip really opened my eyes to the world around me and from that moment on, I’ve travelled with my film camera wherever I go, observing & capturing scenes from around the globe. I favour 35mm, but also enjoy medium and 4x5 format shooting both in Colour and Black and White.

Photography for me, personally, is about being present and in the moment, giving me a clearer perspective of the world around me.
It awakens my senses.
Provides me artistic expression.

But most importantly, enjoyment.
