This month there was no theme, but one emerged in your submissions of stunning portraiture. Ciara Burke’s photo is a lovely intimate snapshot, there’s an instant communication of familiarity in seeing a woman going about her morning ritual. Franco Zanotti’s ‘Trieste’ is both a well composed landscape and a delightful portrait of couples in love. It’s so pleasing the way it draws the eye around the photo from the ship, to the stroller and couples, and then up to the mountains, but I find I keep getting drawn back to the sweet smile of the girl with the long dark hair, it’s a beautiful moment. I save Chiara Dondi’s ‘The Complicity of Duplicity’ for last, it manages to appear carefully planned and completely organic at the same time, a quality I think every photographer hopes to achieve. The skill involved in hand painting this black and white photo is astounding, there is always a soft spot in my heart for the mastering of mixing mediums in photography. Thank you all again for another great month of submissions, and I look forward to seeing them again next month.
