there’s a bluebird in my heart that
wants to get out
but I’m too tough for him,
I say, stay in there, I’m not going
to let anybody see
you.
there’s a bluebird in my heart that
wants to get out
but I pour whiskey on him and inhale
cigarette smoke
and the whores and the bartenders
and the grocery clerks
never know that
he’s
in there.
— Charles Bukowski: Bluebird

When I first read this poem, I was surprised by just how much I identified with it.  There IS a bluebird in my heart... and there is a darkness in us all.  We cannot exist without it.  The Light and happiness we feel gets balanced off.  We cannot have one without the other.  Too much of a good thing is never ever enough. and too much of a bad thing is sometimes glorious and frightening.  With this curation I was hoping to show the bluebird that resides with the darkness in us all.

The week beginning May 9 will be guest curated by Ralph Whitehead and the theme will be ABSTRACTS.  Please to upload your images here.
