Curated Photos | July 4th 2016 | Marc Nagainis

This past month I asked you all to work on a new Film Self Portrait.  As photographers we sit behind the lens for far too long, that we're almost afraid to come out into the light.  I've always had a soft spot for a well composed selfie. Look to the work of Maier, Newton, Warhol and Arbus and mixed in all their other images is a fascination with the self.  It only stands to reason, as who could we possibly know better, or work on a more intimate level with, than ourselves.  I thank you all for participating, i know this wasn't easy.

The week beginning July 4th will be guest curated by Deborah Candeub and feature the theme "Wonder".  From Deborah:  As a noun Wonder is defined as a feeling of surprise mingled with admiration, caused by something beautiful, unexpected, unfamiliar or inexplicable. As a verb Wonder may be the desire to know something, or to feel admiration and amazement.  Wonder was thought to be the drive behind our desire to understand our universe and, almost  conversely, it is used to describe our reaction to the unknowable. The known or unknowable; from a physical marvel to the look of wonder in a child’s eyes; a shock to the soul or a feast for the eyes - all are game this week. I can’t wait to see what moves you to Wonder.  Please submit your images here.

My next curation will be in about 1 month, and i will be looking for images straight out of the camera.  I'd like to see your least manipulated image, and it would be really great if it was shot within the coming month.  So lets get the exposure correct, make it tack sharp in the camera, develop and scan it off and show me what you've got.
