This summer I traveled to Istria, Croatia and Venice, Italy with three generations of my family. It’s been many years since I’ve had my passport stamped, and in the intervening years I’ve become both a parent and a photographer. That combination can make for a real internal push-pull when traveling far from home.
Summer's Here!!
For many of us, thinking about summer goes along with thinking about vacations, about traveling. Maybe this comes from when we were kids and waited the whole year for the long family road trips to see grandpas. At least I know that's where my summer addiction comes from.
However, now my addiction also gathers its strength from somewhere else: beautiful, golden light; rich colors and contrast everywhere; harsh light; no rain for weeks in a row. In other words, summer time equals photo time.
American Cars and the People Who Love Them
Power Big Meet, or simply Power Meet, is an event that hits the town of Västerås in Sweden the first weekend of July each year. In a city with around 130,000 inhabitants on a normal day, some 80,000 additional car-crazy people flood in bringing with them some 20,000 cars. And not just any cars. We're talking about classic American cars, from the spotless and gorgeous to wrecks that can hardly drive. And people come to this event from all over the world in an annual pilgrimage if you like.
