Urizen Freaza is a fellow contributor of the FSC who recently had a featured exhibit in Revela-T, THE festival of all things film that was held at Vilassar de Dalt, in Catalonia, Spain.
He was kind enough as to share his experience as one of the exhibitors in a festival that sounds like the right place to be when you're a passionate lover of chemical photography.
The odds of being bitten by a shark are 1 in 11.5 million. The odds of being in a plane crash are 1 in 11 million. The odds of dying, well, I don't need to go there. This series was inspired by the work of Frank Lassak. In approaching this challenge, I have attempted to integrate a few significant things from Frank's work: conceptual, narrative and cinema. In viewing Frank's imagery to prepare, I was influenced by his conceptual makings, narrative approach and cinematic style. I was both excited and nervous about this challenge as I saw it as an opportunity to move outside my comfort zone and to continue pushing some boundaries in my own work. Initially, I felt dazed by the idea "but how will my work be good enough to reflect something of Frank's work?!", but I pushed past these thoughts and created. And in creating, a narrative emerged.
