There are quite a few cameras in the Pentax Iqzoom line, but this one stood out for me when I found one. It has a fairly compact footprint and shows high quality in manufacture. It is aluminum cased and although a little thick, it will fit in larger shirt pocket. I ran a 1st roll through mine before finding a manual and specs for it, so I was quite pleased when I got what I considered exceptional results for a compact p&s with a zoom.
The Canon Canonet G III QL17: The Poor Man’s Leica | Camera Review | Cheyenne Morrison
For me the attraction to buying this camera was its classic 70's styling. When I take this out around the town, it elicits admiration from people who don’t even know anything about cameras. There was a saying in the early days of flight that if a plane “looked right, it will fly right”. Well this little camera just looks the business, a no-nonsense camera, which just oozes vintage style.
$40 Camera Challenge
I had some time to kill recently and found myself in one of Japan’s many thrift shops. In a box marked “Junk”, and priced at a whopping ¥100 ($.83) I found myself a Konica Big Mini. It’s true that I don’t need anymore cameras. In fact, I don’t even want any more cameras, but for less than $1USD I had to make an exception and “rescue” the Konica Big Mini from it’s uncertain fate.
