Photography has made a huge impact on my life. I work full time as a staff photographer at a large hosptial/university in Portland OR, and spend most of my free time exploring and seeking out new places/things/people to photograph. I enjoy backpacking trips, forested trails, waking up to mountain views, and capturing the natural beauty around us.
My first exposure to photography was through the viewfinder of my Dad's Minolta SRT 102....I have been hooked since. Seeking a more temperate climate, I moved from Minnesota out to Portland Oregon, which has allowed me to explore the cities and landscapes of the Pacific NW.
I use and appreciate digital photography, but there is a special place in my heart for film. The gear, the sounds, the method, the anticipation, and of course the resulting images....a totally different experience than digital. I shoot medium format 6x6 though my Hasselblad 500cm, a beautiful camera that is a pleasure to photograph with. Looking through that large viewfinder at a spectacular waterfall or mountain vista....it doesn't get much better.
I am happy to be a part of the Film Shooters Collective, and hope you enjoy my images. If you would like to view more examples of my work, please visit my Flickr film gallery or my personal site Glass River Photography
